County Offaly at its highest
Offaly shares its county-high-point entry at Arderin with neighbouring Laois. It is the highest ground in the Slieve Bloom Mountains, an inland range of ridges, glens and forestry. The wider network of Slieve Bloom walks offers plenty of reasons to explore, but county-top collecting asks a narrower question: which exact location have you visited? Make the boundary detail part of the story you record alongside the date, conditions and chosen approach.
Before you go
Plan your visit
Keep the Arderin summit objective separate from a circuit of the Slieve Bloom Way. Sport Ireland's regional route information describes a much broader forest-and-moorland walk. For the county top, consult Discovery Sheet 54 or other detailed mapping and check current local approach information. Discover Ireland's Glendine scenic route can help orient the region, but does not replace a walking plan or resolve the exact Laois–Offaly boundary location for you.
